My new summer project!!

For the longest time, since middle school actually, I have had one major problem that has always troubled me…my weight.  So I finally decided that with the help of my family and friends that I am going to do something about it for real.  I just started a new diet and exercise program yesterday and we got through the second day, which they say is the hardest.

Part of this program has been cutting out a lot of foods that I really shouldn’t be eating, take for instance things with sugar in them.  Cupcakes, cookies, soda, etc. have always been a huge issue of mine.  So when I was at work and I saw the cupcakes sitting there, they were calling to me.  I did not answer, however, and walked away leaving them to sit on the counter.  I have also cut out anything that is fried in anyway, deep or otherwise.  This is extremely difficult because I am a potato chip-a-holic.  I have gone two days now and have started to get over the urge to go down to my neighborhood sheetz and get a soda like I have so many times before, but I have found I don’t need those things.  BTW this is really great for my money spending problem, no fast/greasy/sugary food=less spent at the store.

Yay for day 2

Well it’s day two and I haven’t completely given up on this which is quite a remarkable feat I might add.  So as I said in my last post I told you I would give insight into the nerdiness of musician’s lives, well.  Practice for 3 hours of your day off and enjoy it then you know that you truly are a musical nerd!!!!

My private lesson instructor actually came up with a word for people like me…”nerdtron.”  Although by coming up with this word she actually classified herself as a nerdtron and the word has been around ever since.

The last photo I posted is your inspiration for this post it’s a Yanagisawa A995 one of the best saxes that I’ve ever played and I will probably want one for the rest of my life!

Well here we go

So I finally did it,

No, I didn’t get revenge on that elementary school bully who was always causing me grief.  I finally broke down and started a blog.  I figured that a lot of people are blogging so why not me.

Really the only reason I became aware of tumblr’s existence is my roommates obsession with finding funny things to re-blog.  I will admit that a lot of them are really funny.

Another reason why I really wanted to start a blog was just so that I could write something for me, you know.  I hardly ever get to just sit down and write something because I wanted to, and now this is giving me my opportunity to do just that.

So I decided that I would make a blog that would revolve around my life.  More specifically my life as a musician considering that our lives are different and not a lot of people know about the musician’s true nerdiness I guess you would say.

So to start things off I’m going to give you a brief insight into my musical experiences up to this point.  I started playing that saxophone 10 years ago when I decided to play an instrument for band.  I had played the piano for 4 years prior to this so learning how to read music wasn’t that difficult for me.  I continued to take both piano and sax lessons up through middle and high school.

In high school the time came for me to decide what I was going to do with my life.  I always knew that I loved teaching others new and exciting things but I didn’t know what subject I was going to teach.  Then it hit me that I could combine two of my most favorite things, teaching and music.

Currently I am a sophomore in college studying Music Education and Sacred Music performance ( an odd combo, I know right).  The things that I can say about my musical experiences are that music is always changing and that as a musician you will never be bored and you can always find some aspect of it that you can make your own.

Now at the end of each posts I’m going to leave you with a little bit of inspiration whether that be a quote or a photo or something.

“Do you know what music is?  It’s God’s little reminder that there is something else out there, something more than us!” -Wizard from August Rush
